Grand Imam: Repeated Attacks on Mecca Expose Houthis’ Criminal Intent
Mecca (ANTARA) – The Grand Imam of the Grand Mosque, Sheikh Dr Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, condemned repeated attacks by the Houthi group on Mecca and Medina, saying the actions revealed a criminal approach and malicious intent towards Muslims and holy sites.
Al-Sudais, who is also president of religious affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, described the Houthi attacks as an outright violation of the sanctity of the two holy cities and of Islamic law, which prohibits aggression and requires holy places to be protected.
According to the SPA news agency, Al-Sudais said the repeated attacks exposed the Houthi militia’s criminal approach, malicious intent towards Muslims and holy sites, and disregard for the status of the Two Holy Mosques.
He said the attacks would not disrupt Saudi Arabia’s security and stability, but would instead strengthen the resolve of the Kingdom’s leaders and people to protect the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.
He also praised Saudi leaders’ efforts to protect the Two Holy Mosques and Islamic holy sites, stressing that their security was a red line that must not be crossed.
