Grand fireworks welcome new year

JAKARTA: The new year celebrations in Jakarta will be
highlighted by an impressive show of fireworks in Ancol Dreamland
in North Jakarta, with more than 1000 fireworks imported from
China, Spain and Canada.

The 15-minute show along with a special concert will entertain
the Jakartans as part of the city-owned recreational park's
program to welcome the new year, with the theme of
Cool ... Jakarta Cool 2002.

According to the press release issued by Ancol Dreamland,
Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso, accompanied by City Council head Edi
Waluyo, will attend the show and present his new year speech.

Several of the city's popular singers, such as Rosa, Nadila,
Ikke Nurjanah, with Dwiki Dharmawan Band will take part in the
