Grand Bedug Event: Pramono Aims to Strengthen Togetherness in Jakarta
Jakarta - Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung Wibowo, held the Jakarta Bedug Kolosal event to strengthen the value of togetherness among Jakarta residents. “More than just an entertainment medium, this activity also strengthens the value of togetherness, tightens social harmony, and serves as a space for community creativity and works, while encouraging the growth of the tourism and creative economy sectors in Jakarta,” he said while opening the event held at Bundaran HI on Friday. He also explained that this activity marks the peak of the Eid Mubarak Jakarta celebration series, which feels even more lively with the presence of a thousand bedugs from 261 sub-districts in Jakarta as well as representatives from Banten and West Sumatra provinces. “In addition, a torch parade was held involving 5,000 participants, a parade of decorated vehicles, and a themed fountain show titled Jakarta Rhythm of the Fountain, which brings joy to welcome the arrival of Eid al-Fitr,” he said. “We present Bundaran HI as a space for social interaction where residents walk together with their families to watch the fountain show and torch parade that blends with lights and religious music, feeling the warmth of togetherness on this night of victory,” he said. According to Pramono, this year’s takbiran night feels special because it follows the commemoration of Nyepi Day yesterday. “This momentum serves as a reminder to us all that Jakarta residents are a home for diversity, a place to share traditions and beliefs, living side by side in an atmosphere of mutual respect,” he stated. “My Deputy Governor Rano Karno and I truly hope that all these activities not only become an annual celebration but also part of Jakarta’s identity as an inclusive, creative, cultured global city, and provide memorable experiences for all communities and tourists who come to Jakarta,” he explained. Pramono also did not forget to express thanks to all Jakarta residents who, during the month of Ramadan, have kept the city’s atmosphere running conducively, full of tolerance, and rich with the spirit of togetherness. “Let us celebrate this takbiran night with the spirit of keeping Jakarta orderly, secure, and clean in our beloved city so that Jakarta remains a comfortable host for all its residents,” he said.
