Graft suspect misses trial
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Graft suspect Said Unok failed to
appear for the opening day of his Rp 2.9 billion (US$290,000)
corruption trial on Monday because he was being treated at a
hospital.
The former third assistant to the Morowali regency
administration was scheduled to go on trial on Monday at the Palu
District Court, along with Morowali Regent Andi Muhammad AB.
A source at the Central Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office said Said
Unok had undergone a surgery at a hospital in Makassar.
He is a suspect in the misuse of funds intended to finance the
regency's separation from Poso five years ago. The regency
received Rp 5 billion for the separation, of which Rp 2 billion
was disbursed in 2003 and Rp 3 billion in 2004. -- Antara
