Grady to defend PGA title

JAKARTA (JP): Australian Wayne Grady will defend his title at the US$100,000 Tugu Pratama golf championship slated for Nov. 9- 13 in the Bumi Serpong Damai golf course in West Java.

About 140 home and foreign golfers from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, the U.S., Thailand and the Philippines will take part in the championship, the second edition of golf tournament sanctioned by the Professional Golf Association (PGA).

Compared to last year, the amount of prize money in this year's tournament has been increased by $25,000 in order to attract more participants. Moreover, a day's best scorer will get Rp 500,000 ($228) a day and each hole-in-one will be rewarded $5,000.

Amateur championship will be held one day thereafter, Abubakar, the championship's organizer said yesterday. (arf)
