Jakarta (ANTARA) - Grace Natalie, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), revealed that her party’s decision not to provide legal assistance regarding a police report over the upload of a clip from Jusuf Kalla’s (JK) sermon was her personal request as the party’s founder.

She made this statement in response to comments from PSI’s Acting Chairman Ahmad Ali about the party’s stance on not providing legal support to her in relation to the report.

“So, I want to convey that his statement (Ahmad Ali’s) was based on my request as the party founder,” Grace told reporters in Jakarta on Monday.

Grace stressed that she did not wish to involve PSI because the video upload was done in her personal capacity via her personal social media account.

“I did upload the material on my social media as a private individual and as a citizen, and I am confident, optimistic, that there is no legal violation there, so it has nothing to do with PSI and it’s all normal,” she said.

Grace stated that she is prepared to take responsibility for the video upload as a citizen.

“As a good citizen, I am ready to take responsibility, and I am optimistic that there is no legal violation there,” she added.

The report was received under police report number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI.

Gurun Arisastra, Chairman of the Law and Human Rights Division of the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Muslim Students’ Union (PB SEMMI), said the report was filed because the three individuals uploaded a clip of JK’s sermon that was deemed incomplete.

He explained that JK was not actually discussing a specific religious teaching, but rather expressing concerns about the psychological impact on society regarding understandings of teachings that could lead to deviant thinking.

“Thus, Mr JK stated that the concept of martyrdom in thinking is misguided. This was not presented in full to the public,” Gurun said.
