Grace Natalie Ready to Meet: Perhaps Mr JK Wants to Ask What the Context Is

Grace Natalie, Secretary of the Board of Patrons of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), has spoken out in response to the report filed against her regarding the controversy over her social media post about a clipped video of a sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK). Grace believes that her post about the JK video does not violate the law. She also assured that her case is not related to the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), which is currently led by Kaesang Pangarep. The independent commissioner of MIND ID stated that she is open to meeting JK directly. CNNIndonesia.com has compiled Grace Natalie’s statements on the JK video case: Confident no law broken Grace stated that her post was purely a personal opinion in response to JK’s sermon at UGM, which has sparked pro and contra reactions. “In that video of mine, I did not upload or repost Mr JK’s video, I also did not clip or edit it. So I was just responding to Mr JK’s video, where I saw that there was already a lot of controversy circulating in society,” Grace said during a press conference on Monday (11/5). Grace believes there is no legal violation in her action of posting the video related to JK on her personal Instagram account. “Once again, I did not upload, did not clip, did not edit, nor repost it. Therefore, I am optimistic that there is no legal violation there,” she said. Open to meeting JK Grace admitted she is open if there is an opportunity to meet JK. She even mentioned that she has not met JK for quite a while. “So far, there hasn’t been (communication), but if he is open, then let’s go. I have never had any problems with Mr JK. It just so happens that it’s been a while since I met him. Never had any issues,” Grace said. Grace considers her statements about JK in that video to still be within reasonable bounds. She also admitted that she has never had any personal problems with JK. “I also never had any problems with Mr JK as an individual. My statements were also just normal. Therefore, I am ready if asked for an explanation, for example, or perhaps Mr JK wants to ask what the context is. But the one who reported it wasn’t Mr JK, right,” Grace said. Not related to PSI Furthermore, Grace emphasised that the case currently involving her name has no connection to the PSI party. She stated that the statement from PSI’s Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali, who said the party would not provide legal assistance, was at her request. “When there was a statement from Daily Chairman Ahmad Ali last week, I want to convey that his statement was based on my request as a party founder,” Grace said. Grace explained that her action of posting the JK video was purely in her capacity as a citizen responding to a viral issue. She is also convinced that there is absolutely no element of legal violation in that post. “I instructed the Daily Chairman because I uploaded the material on my social media as a private individual as a member of society, and I am sure, I am optimistic that there is no legal violation there. So it has nothing to do with PSI,” she said. Grace was officially reported to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) following her narrative post responding to the clipped video of JK’s sermon. Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, stated that the report was filed regarding the polemic of the narrative included in the post uploaded by Grace Natalie on her social media on 13 April 2026. In the video that formed the basis of the report, Grace Natalie highlighted JK’s sermon, which she believes contains serious issues. “Mr Jusuf Kalla’s statement in his recent sermon at UGM is going viral, to the point that he was reported to the police. After watching it, yes, his statement is indeed very problematic,” Grace said through her Instagram account @gracenat on Monday (13/4). Besides Grace Natalie, at least 40 Islamic mass organisations under the Alliance for Religious Harmony have also officially reported PSI cadre and academic Ade Armando, and content creator Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda, to Bareskrim Polri. Gurun Arisastra said the report was filed regarding the narrative included in each of their posts about the clipped video of JK’s sermon at the UGM Mosque while explaining the conflicts in Poso and Ambon. The report was received and registered with number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026. “LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia and LBH Syarikat Islam along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN and other organisations have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
