Grace Natalie Open to Meeting JK: It's Been a While Since I Last Met Him
Grace Natalie, Secretary of the PSI’s Board of Patrons, has stated she is open to meeting the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK). Grace was previously reported to the police by several mass organisations due to a post on her personal account related to a video of JK’s lecture at UGM. Grace said she has never had any problems with JK. “So far, there hasn’t been (communication), but if he is open, then let’s do it. I have never had any problems with Mr JK. It just so happens that it’s been a while, quite a while since I last met him. I’ve never had any issues,” Grace said during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Monday (11/5). Grace stated that her comments in the video regarding JK were perfectly normal. She said she is open to meeting and explaining her statement. “I also have never had any problems with Mr JK as a person. My statement was also just normal. Therefore, I am ready if asked for an explanation, for example, or perhaps Mr JK wants to ask what the context is. But the ones who reported it weren’t Mr JK, right,” she said. On the other hand, she is convinced that there was no legal violation in her action of posting the video related to JK. Grace said JK’s statement during the lecture at UGM has already sparked pros and cons. Grace said she only posted her opinion regarding JK’s statement. “In that video of mine, I did not upload or repost Mr JK’s video, I also did not cut or edit it. So I was just responding to Mr JK’s video, where I saw that there was already a lot of controversy circulating in society,” Grace said. Grace was previously reported along with her colleague Ade Armando and social media activist Permadi Arya. The report was received and registered with number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026. The report was filed by 40 Islamic mass organisations united under the Alliance for Religious Harmony. Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, said the reporting was related to the polemic narrative included in each of their posts regarding excerpts from the lecture video of the 10th and 12th Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK), at the UGM Mosque while explaining matters related to the conflicts in Poso and Ambon. “LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia and LBH Syarikat Islam along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN and other organisations have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra to reporters at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
