Grace Natalie Claims Readiness to Meet JK
Secretary of the Indonesian Solidarity Party’s Board of Patrons, Grace Natalie, has stated her readiness to meet former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, or JK. This statement came after Grace was reported to the police by the Islamic Organisations Alliance for allegedly editing a video of JK’s lecture, which they claim causes defamation and hate speech.
Grace believes she is not guilty under the law because she only created a video response content and did not edit JK’s lecture video at Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta. “My statement is perfectly normal. Therefore, I am ready if asked for an explanation, for example, or if Mr JK wants to ask what the context is,” Grace said in Central Jakarta on Monday, 11 May 2026.
As of yesterday, Grace claimed she had not communicated with JK at all. She also claimed to have no history of disputes with JK, thus welcoming any offer to discuss with the Minister of Industry and Trade from 1999–2000.
“Coincidentally, it’s been a while since I met him. I’ve never had any problems; friends can check my personal track record, I’ve never had any issues with Mr JK,” she said.
In addition, Grace mentioned that her reporting to the police was not done by JK himself. This further strengthens her belief that her content upload does not violate the law.
“Is there any connection with Mr JK to those reporting? Well, my friends don’t know. As far as I know, it’s not Mr JK who reported it,” she said.
Grace’s previous response was uploaded via video on her Instagram account on 13 April 2026. Grace opined that Jusuf Kalla’s statement was prone to misuse by certain groups to justify acts of violence. Therefore, she suggested that JK provide adequate clarification on the circulating video clip.
On that occasion, Grace emphasised that her public comments did not represent her position in the party led by Kaesang Pangarep. She repeatedly stated that the clarification she made was her personal affair.
Grace claimed that she initiated a request to PSI not to get involved in handling the impacts of her actions, including providing legal assistance.
“Because this is my personal matter, not involving the party, therefore I also do not request legal assistance. If the party provides legal assistance as an institution, it would then relate to the institution,” she said.
An alliance of several Islamic community organisations reported social media activist Permadi Arya alias Abu Janda, as well as two politicians Ade Armando and Grace Natalie, to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency last week. The report concerns allegations of incitement through electronic media, stemming from the polemic of former Vice President Jusuf Kalla’s lecture on 5 March 2026.
“We today represent around 40 Islamic organisations that we call the Alliance of Islamic Organisations for Religious Harmony to come and file a police report to report three people, namely brother Ade Armando, Permadi Arya, and Grace Natalie,” said Director of LBH Hidayatullah Syaefullah Hamid in front of the Bareskrim Polri building, Jakarta, on Monday, 4 May 2026.
Syaefullah said that they assessed that the three individuals had framed JK through videos and podcasts they uploaded on social media. “Ade Armando who posted a clip video on Cokro TV on 9 April 2026. Then Permadi Arya who posted on his social media on 12 April 2026. Then Grace Natalie who posted on her social media on 13 April 2026. There are narratives built where there is an incomplete video presented to the public,” he said.
