Grace Natalie Asserts JK Video Case Unrelated to PSI
PSI Board of Trustees Secretary Grace Natalie stated that the controversy over the report against her regarding the upload of a video about the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) is not related to the party. She mentioned that the statement from PSI’s Acting Chairman Ahmad Ali, saying the party would not provide legal assistance, was at her request. “When there was a statement from Acting Chairman Ahmad Ali last week, I want to convey that his statement was based on my request as the party’s founder,” Grace said during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Monday (11/5). Grace said that her action of uploading the video related to JK was done as a citizen responding to a viral issue. She is optimistic that there is no legal violation regarding her upload. “I instructed the Acting Chairman because I uploaded the material on my personal social media as a private citizen, and I am confident, optimistic, that there is no legal violation there. So it has nothing to do with PSI,” she said. Previously, PSI stated that it would not provide legal assistance to the party’s Board of Trustees Secretary Grace Natalie regarding the incitement and hate speech case at Bareskrim Polri. PSI’s Acting Chairman Ahmad Ali said that Grace’s actions or statements in that case were outside the party’s duties, so they must be accounted for personally. “So institutionally, we ensure that we will not provide legal assistance institutionally from the party because these are matters that must be accounted for personally,” Ali said at the PSI DPP office on Tuesday (5/5). Grace was previously reported along with her colleague Ade Armando and social media activist Permadi Arya. The report was received and registered with number LP/B/185/V/2026/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated 4 May 2026. The report was filed by 40 Islamic mass organisations united in the Alliance for Religious Harmony. Representative of LBH Syarikat Islam/SEMMI, Gurun Arisastra, said the reporting was related to the controversy over the narrative included in each upload regarding a clip of the sermon by the 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) at Masjid UGM while explaining the conflicts in Poso and Ambon. “LBH Serikat Mahasiswa Muslimin Indonesia and LBH Syarikat Islam along with LBH Muhammadiyah, Hidayatullah, AFKN and other organisations have reported three figures: Ade Armando, then Permadi Arya, and also Grace Natalie,” said Gurun Arisastra to reporters at Bareskrim Polri, South Jakarta, on Monday (4/5).
