Grab to Close the Budget Access Subscription Programme for GrabBike Partners; Will Ride-Hailing Motorcycle Fares Rise?
Grab Indonesia has announced the closure of the Budget Access Subscription Programme for GrabBike partner drivers on 19 May 2026 as part of an adjustment to services to ensure the sustainability of the online transport ecosystem. Chief Executive Neneng Goenadi said the company believes the programme needs to be tidied to be more optimal going forward. ‘The closure of the subscription programme is necessary as Grab Indonesia sees the need for a better adjustment,’ she said in an official statement, cited on 20 May 2026. ‘The closure of this subscription programme is also aimed at creating a sustainable ecosystem for all parties,’ she added.
Although the subscription for driver partners is being terminated, Grab said GrabBike Hemat service for consumers remains available. The company stated that cost adjustments will be implemented in a measured manner while still considering affordability for the public. For GrabBike Standard, Grab confirmed that there has been no fare increase for users at this time. It reiterated its commitment to maintaining driver welfare amid the dynamics of the online transport industry. ‘Driver welfare is our top priority. Grab Indonesia will continue to ensure driver earnings are maintained amid industry dynamics,’ said Neneng Goenadi.
The company noted several driver welfare programmes will continue, including Raya Bonus (BHR), facilitation of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan with premium coverage for high-performing partners, additional accident insurance, and the GrabScholar scholarship for drivers’ children. In addition, Grab will continue the Umrah programme for inspirational partners, GrabAcademy, GrabBenefits, and the emergency channel GERCEP or Grab Respon Cepat.
Grab added that it will continue coordinating with the government and stakeholders regarding the implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 for GrabBike drivers. ‘We will always coordinate with the government and all stakeholders to ensure the implementation of Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 for GrabBike Driver Partners proceeds smoothly,’ the company concluded.
