Grab Supports Driver Victim of Assault at Labuan Bajo Airport
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Grab Indonesia has responded to the assault case against one of its online motorcycle taxi driver partners at Komodo International Airport, Labuan Bajo, on Monday (13/4/2026).
Director of Grab Indonesia, Richard Aditya, stated that the company is providing protection and support to the victim. Grab also emphasised that it does not tolerate acts of violence.
“Grab Indonesia regrets the incident that befell one of our Driver Partners in the Komodo International Airport area, Labuan Bajo,” said Richard to Kompas.com on Thursday (16/4/2026).
“We absolutely do not tolerate any form of violent acts,” he stated.
“Grab has received the report of the incident and is coordinating and working with the authorities to support the investigation process in accordance with applicable legal provisions,” he explained.
The company is also providing direct support to the victim. The assistance includes legal support and medical expenses.
“As a form of support for the relevant Driver Partner, Grab has provided legal support as well as assistance with medical costs,” said Richard.
Coordination is being carried out with local government, police, and the partner community in Labuan Bajo to maintain safe conditions.
Grab places the safety of its partners as a priority. Strengthening is done through safety education and security features in the app.
“We continue to strengthen safety provisions, app security features, and emergency reporting mechanisms that can be accessed quickly,” he said.
The company is also expanding social protection through the “Grab for Indonesia” programme. This programme includes cooperation with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, training through GrabAcademy, and appreciation for partners.
“Going forward, Grab Indonesia is committed to continuing to strengthen the protection system for Driver Partners so that they can carry out their activities more safely and confidently,” Richard emphasised.
