Grab Studies Plan for 8 Percent App Fee Cap
Grab Indonesia has stated that it respects President Prabowo Subianto’s directive in his Labour Day speech on Friday, 1 May 2026, regarding online transportation. In his speech, Prabowo mentioned limiting online transport app deductions to a maximum of 8 percent.
“As a long-term partner in Indonesia’s economic growth, we remain committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving public welfare,” said Grab Indonesia’s Chief Executive Officer, Neneng Goenadi, in a written statement on Friday, 1 May 2026.
Neneng said the company is still awaiting the issuance of Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transport Drivers to review and study the details of the directive. According to her, the proposed commission structure represents a fundamental change to how digital platforms function as marketplaces.
She stated that Grab will collaborate with the government and stakeholders to implement these changes. The goal is for the policy to protect driver partners, maintain affordable prices for consumers, and ensure the industry’s sustainability.
Since arriving in Indonesia, Neneng said, Grab has accompanied millions of driver partners and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in developing the digital economy. Supporting the livelihoods of driver partners and their families will remain the company’s priority.
