Jakarta (ANTARA) - Grab has launched 13 artificial intelligence (AI)-based features on its platform, aimed at meeting users’ needs practically, whether travelling or running a business. These features were introduced at the Grab X 2026 event and cover three categories: daily activity guides, travel convenience, and business partner empowerment. “We want the Grab app to become a daily guide that handles manual tasks, so you can focus on your activities,” said Grab’s Chief Product Officer, Philipp Kandal, at the launch event in Jakarta on Wednesday. To simplify consumer activities, Grab has introduced features such as Group Ride, which allows up to four people to share a vehicle with automatic pickup and destination settings as well as cost splitting. Grab has also introduced the Grab AI Assistant as a virtual assistant that can help with various user needs, from finding restaurant recommendations to planning events based on preferences and dietary requirements. When shopping, users can utilise an AI-based shopping agent to create automatic shopping lists simply by sending a photo, voice, or text. In financial services, Grab has introduced Cash Loan, which uses AI to assess users’ creditworthiness. This feature enables users to apply for loans quickly. To facilitate travel, Grab has introduced the Personalised Travel Experience and Discover features, designed to simplify user mobility, especially when travelling out of town or abroad. The GrabStays service allows users to book hotels with an integrated process in the app. Grab has also introduced GrabPay for Travel, which simplifies payments abroad through QR code scanning linked to debit or credit cards. Meanwhile, for driver partners and business operators, Grab has introduced various features to support business operations. Merchant partners can utilise the Virtual Store Manager and Cloud Printer, which use AI technology to automate operational processes, such as monitoring cleanliness, measuring customer traffic, and automatically synchronising orders between the cashier and kitchen. For driver partners, Grab provides the Driver AI Assistant in the form of a chatbot that functions as a smart assistant. This feature provides real-time advice to help drivers improve trip efficiency while optimising daily income potential. All these features are supported by the Grab Intelligence Layer system, an AI infrastructure developed based on the analysis of more than 20 billion travel and transaction data points. This technology leverages various real-world signals, such as weather conditions to customer activities, to generate recommendations that help users make decisions.
