Jakarta, VIVA – The online transportation platform Grab Indonesia has stated its readiness to review and collaborate with the government regarding the reduction of the commission taken by the company from online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers to eight percent.

This is in response to Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026, which has been signed and announced by President Prabowo Subianto during the International Labour Day/May Day 2026 commemoration at the National Monument in Jakarta last Friday.

“We will collaborate with the government and relevant stakeholders to endeavour to implement this change, ensuring that the policy achieves its objectives in protecting driver partners, while maintaining affordable prices for consumers and the sustainability of the industry,” said Grab Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Neneng Goenadi in a statement, quoted on Monday, 4 May 2026.

Neneng explained that the company respects the guidance delivered by President Prabowo Subianto in his 2026 International Labour Day speech. “As a long-term partner in Indonesia’s economic growth, we remain committed to supporting the government’s vision in improving societal welfare,” she said.

Furthermore, according to her, Grab Indonesia is still awaiting the official issuance of Perpres No. 27 of 2026 so that it can review and study the details of the directive in greater depth.

“Since our first day in Indonesia, Grab Indonesia has accompanied millions of driver partners and SMEs in developing the digital economy, as well as supporting their livelihoods and those of their families, which has always been our priority,” said Neneng.

Previously, President Prabowo had signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 27 of 2026 to reduce the commission taken by ride-hailing companies from online motorcycle drivers to eight percent. “I say here, I do not agree with 10 percent, it must be below 10 percent,” he said.

The President emphasised that this policy is taken to defend the rights of ojol drivers who work hard every day and risk their lives on the roads.

According to him, the revenue-sharing scheme that has been in place so far still does not provide justice for the drivers. Prabowo stated that previously, ride-hailing platforms demanded a contribution or commission of 20 percent from drivers’ income.

Through this new regulation, the government establishes a much lower new standard to increase the net income of online transportation workers.
