Grab Indonesia Opens STEM Learning Space for Women
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Grab Indonesia, a platform providing transportation services, offered a discussion and learning space to 75 female and male students about the challenges and career prospects in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Director of Digital & Sustainability, Grab Indonesia, Rivana Mezaya, said women must have equal space to grow and contribute in technology. “We believe technology is not built solely through technical ability, but also through empathy, problem solving, and the courage to create real impact. Through STEM Talks, we want more young women to see that they have the space and opportunity to grow and contribute in technology,” Rivana said in a press statement received on Thursday. The gap is even more evident among graduates where unemployment rate for highly educated women reaches 18.66 percent, more than twice that of men at 8.16 percent. This data shows that barriers for women are not in capability or willingness to pursue education, but in unequal opportunities in the labour market. Through STEM Talks, part of the “Jejak Aksi Kartini Masa Kini” initiative, Grab continues to encourage more young women to be brave to develop and take strategic roles in technology. This initiative reflects Grab’s commitment to empowering women across its ecosystem, not only by providing access but also by offering learning spaces, networks, and inspiration for women to continue learning, growing, and making a broader impact for Indonesia.
