Grab Indonesia has increased its electric vehicle (EV) fleet within its service ecosystem to 28,000 units as of May 2026, as part of an effort to promote energy efficiency and support the transition towards cleaner energy in Indonesia. Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi stated that the initiative was introduced to encourage the public to make wiser choices in energy use amid global dynamics that are putting pressure on the energy sector, including fuel prices and public mobility costs. ‘We certainly want to invite the public to make wiser choices in energy use through daily activities. This initiative also comes amid global dynamics that are putting pressure on the energy sector, including fuel prices and public mobility costs. Therefore, energy efficiency is increasingly important for us to promote together,’ Neneng said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday (29/6/2026). She added that this commitment aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to achieve energy sovereignty through the acceleration of national energy independence, while also supporting the target of net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner. As one of the largest electric vehicle operators in Indonesia, Grab recorded that its EV fleet had reached 28,000 units by May 2026, twice the number at the end of 2025. The company also targets this figure to triple compared to 2025 by the end of this year.
