Grab Indonesia and Ministry of Health Hold Free Health Checks for Grab Drivers in Bandung
Grab Indonesia, together with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and several stakeholders, has introduced a Free Health Check (CKG) programme for more than 300 driver partners in Bandung.
Taking place at the Grab Bandung Office on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta, this activity is part of an effort to expand access to promotive and preventive healthcare services for driver partners who maintain high mobility in their daily activities. The programme is a collaborative result between Grab Indonesia, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the West Java Provincial Health Office, the Bandung City Health Office, the West Java Provincial Transportation Office, and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Bandung.
The medical examinations are supported by professional medical personnel from the Bandung City Health Office and are provided free of charge. To ensure the effectiveness and quality of the checks, healthcare services are facilitated directly by the professional medical team.
The range of examinations includes physical and general check-ups, follow-up examinations, anthropometric consultations, laboratory tests for blood sugar and lipid profiles, and blood pressure monitoring. Additionally, screenings for TB symptoms and lung X-rays, eye and dental examinations, ECG, Sadanis (breast cancer screening), ear examinations, doctor consultations, and medicine services were provided.
For driver partners who spend significant time on the road and have high levels of mobility, regular health checks can help detect potential health issues early. The results can also serve as a basis for participants to receive consultations and follow-up recommendations from healthcare professionals.
Regarding transport safety, the physical condition and fitness of drivers are key factors in supporting safe journeys. Therefore, access to health checks benefits not only the driver partners but also their families, passengers, other road users, and the wider community.
“Driver partners have high daily mobility levels, making regular health monitoring essential. The Ministry of Health appreciates the collaborative steps taken by Grab Indonesia and all stakeholders in expanding access to promotive and preventive healthcare services. The prime condition of drivers is an important asset in supporting the safety of themselves, their families, and the community using our services,” said dr. Niken Wastu Palupi, Director of Health Promotion and Community Health at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
Support for this programme also comes from the transport sector. Dhani Gumelar, S.T., M.T., Head of the West Java Provincial Transportation Office, stated that transport safety must be viewed holistically, including the readiness and fitness of drivers.
“The operational feasibility of road transport is determined not only by the condition of the vehicle but also by the fitness of the driver. We appreciate Grab Indonesia’s proactive steps in facilitating health checks for Driver Partners. Such preventive initiatives can support the creation of a safe and reliable transport system in West Java,” he said.
In addition to health services, the event included the symbolic handover of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection benefits to the heirs of driver partners. This handover demonstrates the importance of a social safety net for independent workers, including driver partners who face risks while operating on the road.
“Today’s handover is a concrete form of social protection for workers, including Driver Partners on digital platforms. Through collaboration with Grab, we continue to encourage the expansion of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership so that more partners receive protection from work-related risks,” said Suarni, Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Bandung Suci Branch Office.

Moving forward, Grab Indonesia, along with its strategic partners, will continue to evaluate and expand the programme’s reach, considering the need for access to healthcare and social protection for Driver Partners in various regions.
