Jakarta (ANTARA) - Grab Indonesia is striving to expand women’s empowerment across various lines of its ecosystem to create a safer, more inclusive space full of opportunities for Indonesian women in the digital era.

“We want to ensure that every woman in the ecosystem has room to grow and become independent. Our focus is on providing them with a platform to develop, so they can pave the way and inspire other women to create broader impact,” said Chief Executive Officer of Grab Indonesia, Neneng Goenadi, in a press statement received on Thursday.

This empowerment programme includes self-defence training on the road for female Driver Partners, financial literacy and business development for women Merchant Partners running SMEs, as well as inspirational sessions for young women in the field of technology.

Through the NGERUMPI (Ngobrol Seputar Masalah Wiramudi) programme, Grab addresses women’s safety challenges on the road by presenting a workshop titled “Jaga Diri di Jalan: Self-Defense for Women Drivers”.

To strengthen financial independence for women SME operators, Grab also introduces the SERABI (Sekumpulan Perempuan Bisa) programme, which focuses on empowering female Merchant Partners.

Participants are equipped with practical understanding of the importance of healthy and sustainable financial management, from distinguishing productive capital from risky loans, tips on setting aside part of profits for business emergency funds, to ways to identify expense leaks such as unrecorded small expenditures, excessive promotions, and inefficient operational costs.

“For SME operators, healthy financial management becomes an important foundation for business sustainability. By understanding how to manage cash flow and build emergency funds, business owners can be better prepared to face challenges while developing their businesses sustainably,” said Financial Planner Ayu Sara Herlia.

As a concrete step to support women’s leadership in the AI era, Grab is collaborating with Google Developer Group (GDG) Jakarta to organise “Women Techmakers: Break the Pattern”.

Through the involvement of Grab’s female leaders in technology, this initiative aims to encourage more women to take strategic roles to create greater impact through technological innovation.

Grab is also preparing the “STEM Talks” programme on 8 May 2026 as a platform for female university students to explore opportunities in the technology industry through sessions sharing insights on Tech for Impact.
