Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Grab has introduced a series of artificial intelligence (AI)-based features at the GrabX event. Of the total 13 global launches, six AI features are already available in Indonesia, while one additional feature will follow soon.

The AI technology is designed to make life easier for users, from transportation and food ordering to shopping and travel navigation.

Some of the AI features already available in Indonesia include Group Ride, Grab More, Grab Shopping Agent, GrabMaps for Consumers, Discover by Grab, and Cloud Printer for merchants.

The Group Ride feature allows up to four users to share a vehicle on a single trip. The AI system will arrange the most efficient route and automatically split the costs, with potential savings of up to 40% compared to travelling alone.

Meanwhile, Grab More allows users to order from two different merchants in a single delivery without additional delivery fees. The AI will synchronise delivery times so that orders arrive simultaneously.

Grab has also introduced Grab Shopping Agent, an AI-based shopping assistant. Users simply send a photo, list, or voice message, and the system will immediately create a shopping basket from various stores at once.

On the mobility side, GrabMaps for Consumers offers AI-based trip planning. This feature can predict destinations, compare transport options, and even provide indoor navigation in malls or buildings.

For food recommendations, Grab has introduced Discover by Grab. This feature presents community-based food content personalised by AI, while also allowing users to directly order food, book tables, and arrange vehicles.

For business partners, Grab has introduced Cloud Printer, where orders are automatically printed upon receipt, and kitchen staff scan a QR code to mark food as ready for pickup. The printer also automatically pauses the store if there is no activity, preventing orders from coming in when the store is closed.

In addition to the six features already available, Grab is also preparing one additional feature that will soon arrive in Indonesia, namely Personalised Travel Experience, which will be available in the third quarter of 2026.
