Grab is continuing to expand the use of electric vehicles in Indonesia. An estimated 42,000 electric vehicles are expected to be available by the end of this year. Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi explained that the company, as the largest EV operator, is continuously strengthening the development of electric vehicles within its ecosystem. A total of 28,000 units were recorded as available up to May 2026. This figure is double the number from the end of 2025. “Grab continues to strengthen the development of electric vehicles in our ecosystem, and as of May 2026, we are proud to announce that Grab’s EV fleet has reached 28,000 units, which is of course double the number from the end of 2025,” Neneng said during the press conference for the launch of the Grab Langkah Hijau movement for Indonesia on Monday. “And we are committed to reaching three times the 2025 figure by the end of 2026,” she added. The breakdown consists of 28,000 electric motorcycles and 14,000 electric cars by the end of the year. “If I’m not mistaken, cars make up about one-third and motorcycles two-thirds of the total,” Neneng stated. These electric vehicles are available for all services, namely GrabCar, GrabBike, GrabExpress, and GrabFood, allowing the public to freely choose their desired service. On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono noted a significant increase in the number of EVs in Indonesia. According to the data he presented, there is an annual growth of 143 per cent for four-wheeled vehicles and 158 per cent for two-wheeled vehicles. Last year, there were 333,561 electric vehicles, up from 207,478 units throughout 2024. “Well, actually, from year to year there has been an increase in the number of EVs. Electric vehicles have grown by approximately 143 per cent, while two-wheelers have grown by 158 per cent each year. It continues to increase positively,” he said.
