Grab Announces 8% Commission for Bike-Hailing Services Starting 1 July

Jakarta - Grab Indonesia will begin implementing an 8% commission for its two-wheeled passenger transport service, GrabBike, starting 1 July 2026. Grab Indonesia CEO Neneng Goenadi stated that the policy will apply to all GrabBike services across the country. “Grab Indonesia will start implementing an 8% commission for online motorcycle taxi passenger transport services, which at Grab is called GrabBike. This implementation will be effective from 1 July 2026,” Neneng said during a press conference at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (23/6/2026). The policy emerges amid government attention to the protection of online transport workers. President Prabowo Subianto previously affirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening protections for online motorcycle taxi drivers. During the International Workers’ Day commemoration at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026), Prabowo announced that he had signed Presidential Regulation Number 27 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Online Transport Workers. One provision in the regulation sets the application commission for online motorcycle taxis at 8%, meaning drivers will receive a minimum of 92% of earnings, up from the previous 80%. “I have signed Presidential Regulation Number 27 on the Protection of Online Transport Workers. As I mentioned, they must be given workplace accident insurance, BPJS Health coverage, and health insurance,” Prabowo said. “Also, the income share for drivers has been increased from 80% to a minimum of 92%,” he added.
