Grab unveiled 13 features based on artificial intelligence (AI) at the GrabX 2026 event held in Jakarta on 8 April 2026. This launch encompasses the development of features across the company’s main services, ranging from transportation and travel to consumer services, as well as support for business operators and driver partners.

The annual event serves as a platform for Grab to showcase product updates that integrate AI technology into its application ecosystem. The company describes this series of features as part of strengthening the digital infrastructure to support users’ needs in various daily activities.

“As a product builder, I believe that AI should work hardest for those who need it most. I am very excited because the various innovations we are presenting at GrabX are designed like having an intelligent companion in everyday life,” said Philipp Kandal, Grab’s Chief Product Officer, at the event in Jakarta on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.

“Whether you are a consumer needing chatbot assistance to choose a lunch menu, a business partner needing to monitor operations of several stores remotely, or a driver requiring navigation guidance without holding a phone, we want our app to be an Everyday Guide that handles manual tasks, so you can focus more on your daily activities,” he added.

In terms of concept, the 13 features are divided into three main categories: Local Life, Effortless Travel, and Business Empowerment. Each is designed to address different user needs within the Grab ecosystem.

In the daily services category, Grab introduces features such as Group Ride, which allows up to four users to share a journey with automatic cost splitting. The AI system manages routes, pick-up points, and fare distribution based on travel conditions.

Additionally, GrabMaps for Consumers is developed to help users find nearby locations such as electric vehicle charging stations, parking areas, and indoor navigation.

In the travel aspect, features like Personalised Travel Experience and Discover are designed to assist users in accessing inter-city or international travel information. These features include flight schedule reminders, travel requirements, and culinary destination recommendations based on user preferences.
