GPCI: GSF volunteers, including nine Indonesian nationals detained by Israel, released

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Global Peace Convoy Indonesia (GPCI) has confirmed that all humanitarian volunteers of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), including nine Indonesian nationals who were briefly detained by the Israeli military, have been released from detention facilities. GPCI Media Coordinator Harfin Naqsyabandy told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday that the volunteers previously held at Ktziot Prison by Israeli authorities have been released from that facility. They are now in the process of deportation and return out of Israeli territory via Ramon/Eilat airport toward Istanbul, Turkey. Adalah (the local human rights organisation) is continuing close monitoring to ensure all activists, including the Indonesian nationals, can depart safely without further delays, Harfin said. He noted that the international volunteers are reported to have experienced violence during detention, such as beatings and rubber bullets. He could not yet confirm the condition of the nine Indonesian detainees. He expressed hope that the violence does not extend to the nine Indonesians. He said the repatriation process will be monitored by the legal team, diplomatic channels, and the international network supporting the flotilla. According to him, GPCI’s team is now preparing to depart for Turkey to collect the Indonesian volunteers. He added that GPCI will continue to coordinate with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu RI). Today, the leaders of GPCI also met with Kemenlu. He asked for prayers that all delegates, including the Indonesian nationals, arrive safely and in good health.
