GP Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor) voiced deep concern over the escalation of the military conflict between the United States and Israel and Iran, warning that it could widen global geopolitical tensions and affect world economic stability and security, including Indonesia. Chairman Addin Jauharudin said the conflict in the Middle East is not merely a regional issue but has broad implications for the global energy supply chain, economic stability, and international political dynamics that could ultimately affect national conditions. Some observers note that the escalation of the fighting in the region could disrupt the world energy supply routes passing through the Hormuz Strait, a vital passage for around 20 percent of global energy distribution. GP Ansor reminded that in today’s uncertain global situation, Indonesia must prioritise unity and avoid polarisation that could weaken national strength. GP Ansor applauded President Prabowo Subianto’s move to invite former presidents, ex-vice presidents, former foreign ministers, party leaders, leaders of Islamic organisations, and various national figures to discuss and exchange views on the global geopolitical situation and its impact on Indonesia. The meeting provided a space for cross-generational national solidarity and leadership consolidation to formulate the best steps for the nation. “The President’s step in embracing national figures serves as an important example that in facing an uncertain global situation, Indonesia must prioritise deliberation, togetherness, and national interests above all differences,” Addin said in a statement received on (6/3). In the occasion, Addin emphasised two things to safeguard to address the impacts of the United States and Israel’s war with Iran: energy resilience and food resilience. “Young people must play an important role in safeguarding these two pillars. GP Ansor is ready to assist the government in this,” he added. GP Ansor also urged the public to remain wise in evaluating information related to international conflicts and not to be easily provoked by narratives that could divide the nation. “Differences in domestic political views should not erode national unity. In a volatile global situation, Indonesia’s greatest strength is national unity,” he added. With the spirit of unity, GP Ansor is optimistic that Indonesia can face various global challenges while continuing to contribute to world peace. (M-3)
