GP Ansor Establishes Humanitarian Task Force to Address Disasters and Environmental Issues
The GP Ansor youth movement has established the 2026 Ansor Humanitarian Action Task Force to strengthen the organisation’s role in disaster management and environmental issues. The task force will operate to handle various calamities, ranging from forest fires, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions to droughts and river cleanliness issues.
The General Chairman of the GP Ansor Central Leadership, Addin Jauerrudin, stated that humanitarian action was one of the primary messages during the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (Maulid Nabi) held at the KH Abdurrahman Wahid Mosque in Central Jakarta.
According to Addin, the exemplary character of the Prophet should be manifested through genuine care and concrete actions to assist communities facing various misfortunes.
“Ansor, Banser, and MDS Rijalul Ansor in various regions have actually been active in participating in the handling of various natural disasters that have struck. We express our gratitude. This spirit will be made even more systematic within a movement,” said Addin in a press statement on Wednesday (23/9/2026).
Consequently, Ansor has formed the 2026 Ansor Humanitarian Action Task Force to strengthen coordination and the organisation’s role in disaster mitigation. The task force will also address environmental issues that require field action.
“This humanitarian action will, at the very least, move to participate in handling various disasters. Forest fires, victims of volcanic eruptions, water needs in drought-stricken areas, earthquake victims, and river clean-ups,” he said.
The strengthening of humanitarian action comes amidst several disasters hitting various regions of Indonesia in recent weeks, including forest and land fires in Kalimantan, earthquakes in East Nusa Tenggara, volcanic eruptions, droughts, and flash floods in Solok.
Addin noted that the momentum of the Prophet’s Birthday also serves as an opportunity to strengthen the spirit of service among Ansor members to the community and the nation. This sentiment was also shared following the conclusion of the 35th Congress (Muktamar) of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).
The 35th NU Congress, held at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, appointed KH Abdul Hakim Mahfudz, also known as Gus Kikin, as the General Chairman of PBNU for the 2026–2031 term, while KH Miftachul Akhyar was appointed as the Rais Aam of PBNU for the same period.
“The series of the Congress from A to Z has concluded. Following this, Ansor invites members to be grateful for the decisions made at the 35th Congress. After all, we were involved in the success of this grand gathering of the Nahdliyin community,” said Addable.
He called upon all Ansor members to continue strengthening unity and service following the Congress. Addin also requested all elements of Nahdlatul Ulama to pray for the new PBNU leadership so that they may carry out their mandate effectively.
“May all elements of Nahdlatul Ulama become increasingly solid in their movements and impactful for the welfare of the community,” concluded Addin.
