GP Ansor Closes National Leadership Training, Pledges Smooth NU Congress

The Chairman of the Central Leadership of Gerakan Pemuda Ansor (PP GP Ansor), Addin Jauharudin, has affirmed that his ranks are ready to help ensure the 35th NU Congress runs smoothly. He made the statement at the closing of the National Leadership Training (PKN) 11th Class of 2026, held at the Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang — the venue for the 35th NU Congress. The PKN had earlier been opened at the Bumi Sholawat Progresif Boarding School in Sidoarjo.

According to him, Tambakberas is the pesantren that produced the originator of the embryo of Nahdlatul Ulama, KH Wahab Hasbullah, who was also the initiator of GP Ansor’s founding.

“Mbah Wahab was not only the founder of NU, but also the founder of Ansor. We have undertaken a cycling spiritual retreat (tirakat) from Bangkalan to Jombang. Our great hope is that Ansor will become the driving force of the organisation, following the example of Mbah Wahab. Moreover, our responsibility — Ansor and Banser — is to ensure the congress runs safely and successfully,” Addin said in a statement received on 13 July.

Addin stressed that cadreisation is the organisation’s anchor, locking in new organisational dreams amid changing times and the diversity of its members.

“Ansor is an open house — whatever dream we have, we can shape it there. It is where hopes gather; that is what an organisation is. Going forward, every Ansor instrument and structure must arrive with its new capabilities,” he asserted.

Addin also assessed that Ansor’s future challenges are growing ever fiercer. In his view, Indonesia will face change with the emergence of a society without values, even a society without organisations. “How do we mobilise people with our ideas and our works, even without having to move physically? A leader is a leader of ideas,” he said.

In building the capacity of cadres, Addin underlined that the key to economic prosperity is the quality of human resources. Concretely, Addin instructed the organisation’s structures to massively build independent ‘training schools’ in order to create new jobs.

“There must be no idle land and no idle people. All assets must be managed to their fullest. That is the function of leadership,” Addin said.

The Deputy Minister for the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) and Ansor cadre, Aminuddin Ma’ruf, stressed that every great transformation must be rooted in integrity of intent and sharpness of vision. He also dissected how institutions such as SOEs have carried out radical streamlining — simplifying the portfolio from 1,074 entities to around 281 entities in 2026 in the name of efficiency and lean governance.

“A large organisation must not become trapped in internal bureaucratic complexity that obscures its core mandate. The same applies to GP Ansor,” said Amin.
