Gowa teenager injured after being shot in the eye by a group of motorcyclists using a toy gun

A group of motorcyclists fired shots from a toy gun in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, injuring the eye of a 15-year-old boy at the scene. DetikSulsel reported on Friday, 6 March 2026, that the incident occurred in front of Bontomanai Primary School in Bontomani Village, Bajeng District, on Thursday, 5 March, at around 21:30 WITA. The incident began when the victim and a friend were sitting outside the Bontomanai Primary School after Tarawih prayers. ‘The perpetrators were riding past on motorcycles. Whenever they saw groups of young people sitting or gathering, they fired gel bullets recklessly,’ said Ipda Aditya Pamungkas, head of the Jatanras Unit of the Gowa Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate. One shot struck the victim’s right eye. The teenager was rushed to a hospital for treatment. ‘As a result, the victim sustained a gel bullet wound to his right eye and was immediately taken to hospital for medical care,’ added Aditya. Police said the victim’s condition was still under treatment. The police confirmed that the victim did not know the motive behind the motorcyclists’ shooting.
