Gowa Regent Unfazed by Inquiry, Chooses to Focus on Governance

The process of the Special Committee (Pansus) for the Right of Inquiry by the Gowa DPRD is said by the Regent of Gowa, Sitti Huslan Talenrang, will not interfere with her duties as the regional head in providing services to the community.

She emphasised that she continues to respect the ongoing inquiry process while remaining focused on executing government programmes and fulfilling her political promises to the public.

“The inquiry committee sessions will continue and we respect that. As Regent, I remain focused on my duties as the regional head, especially since there is still much work to be completed for the welfare of the people of Gowa,” she said on Sunday, 5 July 2026.

She noted that the right of inquiry is part of the democratic mechanism, and therefore she is prepared to attend committee summons if requested to provide testimony.

However, Sitti hopes that the committee’s discussions remain focused on the implementation of oversight functions regarding local government policies, rather than personal issues.

“I highly value the duties and obligations of council members in exercising their oversight function, but I strongly reject any committee discussions that deviate into personal matters unrelated to public policy,” she stated.

Husniah also expressed her readiness to face any legal processes arising from the controversies emerging during the inquiry sessions.

Sitti believes that every individual has a right to privacy that must be respected and should not become subject matter for discussion if it is unrelated to the administration of government.

Previously, Husniah reported two witnesses from the Gowa DPRD Inquiry Committee, identified by the initials ZA and AH, to the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) for alleged defamation and providing false testimony during the proceedings.
