Gowa Regent Reports Two Witnesses from Inquiry Committee to Criminal Investigation Agency

Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has reported two witnesses from the Gowa Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Special Committee for an Inquiry, identified by the initials ZA and AH, to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) for alleged defamation and giving false testimony.

Sitti Husniah Talenrang stated in Gowa on Sunday that the report was submitted alongside her legal counsel to Bareskrim on Friday (3/7) as an effort to pursue legal channels.

“We are taking this legal step by filing a report with Bareskrim at the National Police Headquarters. I, along with my legal counsel, have reported it regarding defamation and false testimony by two witnesses with the initials ZA and AH,” she said.

According to Husniah, the testimony given by the two witnesses during the DPRD Gowa Special Committee hearing did not align with the facts, thereby defaming her reputation as a regional head. She also confirmed that she has submitted a number of pieces of evidence to Bareskrim investigators, although she was not yet willing to disclose the details of that evidence.

“What is certain is that our report has evidence, and this is what we brought to the National Police Headquarters,” she said.

Husniah stressed that this legal action was taken to safeguard the good name of the regional government, the dignity of the regional head, and to ensure that this issue does not disrupt the running of the administration in Gowa Regency.

Meanwhile, ZA, when contacted separately, stated that he respects the legal process initiated by Husniah and is prepared to provide information if required during the investigation process.

“Whether or not there is a police report does not matter. What is clear is that we will follow the ongoing legal process,” he said.

Regarding the testimony delivered during the DPRD Gowa Special Committee hearing, ZA asserted that he conveyed information based on the material presented in the trial and denied having directly stated that the figure in the video was the Gowa Regent.

Meanwhile, AH, when contacted regarding the report, had not yet provided a response as of the time this news was published.
