Gowa Regent Reported by Ex-Husband for Alleged False Testimony in Divorce Trial
Gowa Regent Husniah Talenrang has been reported to the South Sulawesi Regional Police by her former husband, Muhammad Khairul Anco, over alleged criminal acts during their divorce trial at the Makassar Religious Court. Two trial witnesses, identified by the initials R and W, were also named in the report.
The report was filed after Khairul claimed to have discovered manipulation throughout the proceedings, including a court summons he allegedly never received and suspected false testimony given under oath by witnesses. ‘This does not mean we object to or reject the Makassar Religious Court’s decision. We are focusing on the alleged criminal acts that occurred during the trial process,’ said the complainant’s legal counsel, Sangun Ragahdo, after filing the report at the South Sulawesi Police headquarters in Makassar on Friday.
According to Sangun, his client only became aware of the divorce ruling after receiving a copy of the decision around 20 June 2026. He claimed that during the trial process, his client never received a summons from the Religious Court. ‘It turns out that throughout the trial process, Mr Khairul never received a single summons. Yet suddenly there was a ruling,’ he stated. ‘After we searched, investigated, and probed, we discovered facts that the court summons, which was Mr Khairul’s right, had been sabotaged or deliberately withheld.’
The legal team also assessed that some witness statements given under oath during the trial did not align with the facts. ‘We want to seek justice. If this matter is ignored, we fear it will set a bad precedent for future judicial processes,’ he said. Sangun noted that the report submitted is an initial complaint accompanied by preliminary evidence, and they will await the results of the police investigation before providing additional proof.
Separately, Bupati Husniah Talenrang’s legal team stated that the regent and her former husband had mutually agreed to separate in 2025. ‘We have also presented data in the form of a separation agreement made and agreed upon by both parties on 2 June 2025,’ said legal counsel Arie Dumais, adding that the document would be used as evidence in the police investigation.
