Gowa Regent Questioned Regarding Alleged Corruption in Licensing
The National Police’s Anti-Corruption Criminal Investigation Corps (Kortas Tipidkor Polri) has questioned the Regent of Gowa, Sitti Husniah Talenrang, as a witness in an alleged corruption case related to the Building Approval (PBG) process and other licensing in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi.
Previously, investigators from Kortas Tipidkor Polri conducted searches at the Gowa Regent’s office and official residence, seizing several documents and electronic evidence during the raids.
“[She has been] questioned, as a witness,” stated Brigadier General Pol Hernowo Yulianto, an investigator from the Second Level Major Corruption Crime Unit of Kortas Tipidkor Polri, when contacted on Tuesday (22/9).
Hernowo noted that a joint team from Kortas Tipidkor Polri, the Corruption Unit of the South Sulawesi Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, and the Gowa City Police had searched two locations.
The first location was the Gowa Regent’s office complex, including the general administration office, while the second location was the Regent’s official residence.
“We conducted searches at only two locations today: the Regent’s office, including the general administration office, and the official residence,” said Hernuno.
From these two locations, investigators seized various documents and electronic evidence. These items will subsequently be examined to further investigate the alleged corruption in the licensing process.
“What we secured tonight includes documentary evidence and several pieces of electronic evidence,” he added.
Hernowo stated that this search was the first conducted by the joint team from the National Police Headquarters and the South Sulawesi Regional Police regarding this specific case.
At the time of the search, the Regent of Gowa, Sitti Husniah Talenrang, was not present at her official residence. The search was carried out based on a warrant issued by the court and had been communicated to the Regent’s office.
“The Regent was not present. We were equipped with a search warrant issued by the court. This was communicated to those present at the search locations,” he said.
Investigators have not yet detailed the specific documents or electronic items seized. Furthermore, Hernowo indicated that no follow-up searches are planned at this time.
