Gowa Regent Questioned Over IDR 16 Billion School Uniform Procurement
Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has undergone questioning at the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sulawesi Regional Police in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the procurement of free school uniforms for primary and junior high schools in 2025, valued at IDR 16 billion. “We must of course follow the rules regarding the investigator’s summons,” said Regent Husniah Talenrang at the South Sulawesi Police headquarters on Wednesday (29/7).
Meanwhile, the regent’s legal counsel, Amirullah Mappaero, stated that his client attended the investigator’s summons and underwent eight hours of questioning, during which 18 questions were posed. “There were around 18 questions. She arrived at about 4 p.m.,” he said.
According to Amirullah, his client was only asked for information regarding public satisfaction with the free uniform programme for primary and junior high school students in Gowa Regency. “That was it, they asked about the level of public satisfaction after the free uniform programme, just around that,” he explained.
Amirullah noted that this was the first time his client had been questioned regarding the alleged corruption case in the procurement of free school uniforms at the Gowa Regency Education Office. “Her capacity is as a witness. The regent is the general person in charge of the government. She was summoned for the first time and attended immediately. The point is, whenever she is summoned, she is cooperative,” he stated.
Previously, investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sulawesi Regional Police questioned Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang regarding the alleged corruption case in the procurement of school uniforms for primary and junior high schools worth IDR 16 billion in 2025. The case came to light when a special committee of the Gowa Regional House of Representatives questioned whether the IDR 16 billion budget allocated for the 2025 school uniform procurement was managed in accordance with applicable regulations.
