Gowa Regent Questioned as Suspect; Sitti Husniah Remains Silent Upon Arrival at Bareskrim
The Regent of Gowa, Sitti Huspend Talenrang, finally appeared at the Bareskrim Polri building on Thursday (1/10/26). Accompanied by her legal team, she chose not to speak extensively regarding the alleged extortion and money laundering (TPPU) cases currently implicating her.
Her appearance was to fulfil the investigators’ summons and undergo examination as a suspect. When intercepted by journalists, Sitti Husniah provided only a brief response when asked about her condition and the case she is facing.
“Alhamdulillah, I am healthy. Perhaps later, once everything is concluded,” she told reporters.
After making that brief statement, Sitti Husniah entered the Bareskrim building with her legal team to undergo interrogation.
This examination follows the decision by the Indonesian National Police Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) to designate Sitti Husniah as a suspect.
The Director of Enforcement for Kortas Tipikor Polri, Brigadier General Robertus Yohanes De Deo, previously stated that the designation was made after investigators conducted a case review at the National Police Headquarters on Thursday (24/9/26).
Sitti Husniah is alleged to be involved in cases of extortion, illegal levies (pungli), and gratification, which reportedly occurred repeatedly during the licensing process for four projects throughout 2025 and 2026.
In addition to the corruption allegations, investigators have also charged Sitti Husniah with money laundering.
In this case, Sitti Husniah is facing charges under Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c and Article 126 of the National Criminal Code (KUHP).
Investigators have also applied Article 607, Paragraph (1), letter a of the National Criminal Code regarding the alleged crime of money laundering. The examination at Bareskrim now serves as an opportunity for Sitti Husniah to provide testimony to investigators regarding the charges brought against her.
Previously, Sitti Husniah, through her legal counsel, stated that she was prepared to comply with the investigators’ summons and follow the ongoing legal process.
