Gowa Regent Confirms Attendance at DPRD Inquiry Committee Hearing

Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang has confirmed she will attend the Gowa DPRD Special Committee (Pansus) inquiry hearing to provide testimony and answer questions from committee members. The regent’s legal counsel, Arie Dumais, stated on Saturday that his client will also comply with a police summons related to a report filed against two witnesses from the inquiry hearing. “We confirm that the Regent will attend the Pansus inquiry hearing and also provide a statement regarding her police report,” he said. Arie stated that his team has prepared a number of pieces of evidence to clarify various accusations made during the hearing and circulating in the public sphere, including a video allegedly showing a drinking party. “We have studied all witness statements in the DPRD inquiry hearing, including the screening of that video. There is still a lot of other evidence that we will submit to investigators,” he said. He also denied testimony linking the Regent to an individual receiving treatment at a clinic. “Our client was never involved in or followed that treatment process. We are ready to present evidence and witnesses to refute that claim,” he said. Furthermore, Arie asserted that the woman in the circulating video who was claimed to be the Regent is not Sitti Husniah Talenrang. According to him, the video is part of an alleged defamation attempt against his client. “The plan, God willing, is for Tuesday (14/7). The summons for the regent is solely to request an explanation regarding the information received by the special committee. The regent will be asked for clarification or testimony,” he said. Previously, Sitti Husniah Talenrang objected to the material presented in the DPRD inquiry hearing, stating it had entered the realm of privacy. She subsequently reported two witnesses from the hearing to the police on suspicion of providing false statements and committing defamation.
