Gowa Council Special Committee Recommends Impeachment Path for Regent

The task of the Special Committee (Pansus) on the Right of Inquiry of the Gowa DPRD has officially concluded with the submission of eight recommendations to the council leadership. These recommendations carry a strong political message: the door to the impeachment of Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang is now wide open through the proposed use of the Right to Express an Opinion (HMP).

Pansus Chairman Muh Kasim Sila confirmed that the entire investigation process was completed after the report was submitted during a plenary session. The fate of the regency’s leadership now lies in the hands of the 45 DPRD members. “Regarding the right to express an opinion, it is usually not far from the possibility of dismissal (impeachment). However, we do not wish to pre-empt the process and conclusions of our fellow DPRD members,” Kasim Sila stated on the sidelines of the National Board of the Association of Indonesian Regency DPRDs (ADKASI) event at Hotel Claro Makassar on Thursday (23/7).

Kasim hinted at strong support among legislators to follow up on the Pansus findings. Based on responses following the plenary session, the majority of council members appear inclined to proceed to the Right to Express an Opinion stage. The committee’s recommendations are directed at three main targets: law enforcement officials (APH), the Gowa Regency Government (Pemkab), and the DPRD Leadership.
