Govt urged to fill ambassador's post
PALU, Central Sulawesi: Vice secretary for the United
Development Party Bachtiar Chamsyah urged the government on
Thursday to fill the ambassadorship to the U.S., which was
vacated by Dojodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti, who is now the coordinating
minister for the economy.
"The post for the ambassador to the U.S. should not be left
vacant for a long time," Bachtiar told Antara in Palu, Central
Sulawesi.
Bachtiar made the remarks in response to a discussion on the
benefits and disadvantages of the person who fills the post,
which has been vacant for two months.
He said there was no reason for the government to disregard
the vacant post because Indonesia had not severed its diplomatic
ties with the U.S.
"There is no reason not to find a substitute for Dorodjatun,"
he said. --Antara
