Govt to recruit 300,000 teachers
JAKARTA: The government can only afford to recruit 300,000 of 700,000 contractual teachers as civil servants due to its limited budget for national education, State Minister of Administrative Reforms Taufik Effendi said on Monday.
"Our data shows the number of contractual teachers, including those who have been working for 10 to 20 years, has reached 700,000. The government can afford to make only 300,000 of them civil servants within the next three years," he said.
He said the recruitment plan would prioritize those who had worked for the longest but were under the age of 40.
"Though they (contractual teachers) have been working for 10, 15 or 20 years, their age must not exceed 40 years to be appointed as civil servants. That's the civil service regulation," Taufik said. --Antara
