Govt to heal drug addicts

JAKARTA: The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights will build a rehabilitation center for convicts of drug-related crimes in Yogyakarta.

Director General of Penitentiary Mardjaman said on Wednesday the center would be located close to a special prison for drug convicts and an asylum. When it becomes operational, it will be the first integrated establishment for drug convicts in the country.

"We want drug convicts who are serving their jail terms to receive medical treatment," Mardjaman said.

The construction project is expected to start in early December. -- Antara
