“The state has also fully covered the national health insurance premiums for 96.8 million underprivileged Indonesians,” he said during his state address at the 2026 Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) and the Joint Session of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) and the House of Representatives (DPR) at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta.

According to Prabowo, JKN is one of the world’s largest health insurance programs in terms of coverage, reflecting the state’s commitment to ensuring that underprivileged communities have continued access to healthcare services.

“JKN is one of the largest health insurance systems in the world,” he stated.

He then noted that JKN coverage is complemented by government efforts to expand healthcare facilities, especially in areas where services require further improvement.

Currently, the government has built and upgraded 66 regional general hospitals (RSUD) in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions. Of these, 20 new regional hospitals have been built and are fully operational.

“We also continue to ensure equitable service delivery. The government has built and upgraded 66 regional general hospitals in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions. Today, 20 new regional general hospitals we have built are operational,” he noted.

On Friday, the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR RI), the House of Representatives (DPR RI), and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI) held the Annual Session of the MPR RI and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI.

The agenda included President Prabowo Subianto’s speech on the performance of state institutions and his State of the Nation Address marking Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

The government also presented a video showcasing its achievements.

The annual session is a major state event held to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence, under the theme “Sovereign, Just, and Prosperous Indonesia.”
