Govt asked to take over lake resort

PURWAKARTA, West Java: Residents have asked that the local
administration take back management of the Situ Buleud lake
resort from a private company which has allegedly been
restricting residents' access.

According to Antara, Regent Bunyamin Dudih said on Monday that
he has been receiving complaints from residents that the company
made them pay admission fees to the resort. Previously, the
resort was open to the public.

"I have to pay in order to jog there," a resident said.

The administration spent Rp 360 million (US$157,687) to
renovate the resort in 1991 and equip it with recreation and
rowing facilities for children. It then gave the right to manage
the resort to a private company. (swe)
