Governor: Tangerang City DPRD Chairman Rusdi Was a 'Humble' Figure
Banten Governor Andra Soni has said that Tangerang City DPRD Chairman Rusdi, who recently passed away, was a humble figure who always tried to defuse conflict and was accepted by all parties. “In the political world, the first figure I knew was him when he was Chairman of the Tangerang City KNPI. He was a good person, always provided calm, always tried to defuse conflict, and could be accepted by all parties,” Governor Andra Soni said in a statement in Tangerang on Monday. Chairman of the Tangerang City DPRD Rusdi died at EMC Hospital in Tangerang City on Sunday (19/7) at 18.30 WIB. “I have spoken with the Mayor of Tangerang. We will continue what he pioneered. On behalf of the Banten Provincial Government, we express our deepest condolences. May the deceased find husnul khatimah,” he said. Rusdi’s body was to be prayed for at the Al-A’zhom Grand Mosque on Monday, 20 July 2026, and buried at the family cemetery in Poris Gaga Village. Rusdi was born in Tangerang on 4 April 1979 and was a politician from the Golkar Party faction. He was entrusted to serve as Chairman of the Tangerang City DPRD for the 2024–2029 period after being officially inaugurated on 30 September 2024. He also received an award as a Tangerang City Labour Figure in 2026, presented during the May Day commemoration. The award was a form of appreciation for his dedication, commitment, and full support for the welfare of workers. During his leadership, he consistently encouraged the realisation of strong synergy between the DPRD and the Tangerang City Government in delivering policies that favour the community. Various strategic regional agendas, from the deliberation of regional regulations to strengthening oversight functions and overseeing development and public services, were concerns he continuously championed together with all elements of the DPRD.
