Nganjuk - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa stated that East Java has a surplus of sacrificial animals, to the extent that it can supply other regions, due to the abundant population of livestock. The Governor emphasised that the readiness of sacrificial animal stocks is inseparable from the strength of East Java’s livestock sector, which currently holds the first national ranking in terms of livestock population. “Alhamdulillah, the condition of the cattle here is healthy and large. We see some even weighing more than a tonne. This indicates that the quality of our livestock is very good,” she said after inspecting the cattle breeding centre in Sukorejo Village, Loceret Subdistrict, Nganjuk Regency, on Saturday. The Governor stated that the total projected need for sacrificial livestock in East Java is 427,060 heads, consisting of 70,550 cattle, 297,900 goats, 58,600 sheep, and 10 buffaloes. “As of now, the projected need for sacrificial cattle in East Java is 70,550 heads. Meanwhile, our availability is 629,119 heads. Thus, there is a surplus of 558,569 heads,” she said. According to her, this condition shows that East Java has a surplus of sacrificial animals. “This condition shows that East Java has a significant surplus across all types of sacrificial livestock. The availability of sacrificial animals in East Java is very sufficient; once again, it is ready to support other provinces,” she said.
