Governor Says Turyapada Tower Has Entered the Gondola Facilities Construction Phase
Denpasar (ANTARA) – Bali Governor Wayan Koster said construction of Turyapada Tower, a broadcasting tower and tourist attraction in Buleleng, has entered the phase of developing the tourism area, including installing gondola facilities.
“I have just received a report that the gondolas are being shipped from China. They have been arriving in stages, and installation will begin in November. God willing, it will be finished by the end of December. We just need to find an auspicious day for the inauguration,” Koster said at a plenary meeting of the Bali Provincial Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) in Denpasar on Friday.
He said construction of the main structure, or tower body, which is a new landmark for northern Bali, had been completed.
Work is now focused on developing supporting facilities, including gardens, restaurants, leisure areas, the access road, and the gondola terminal and units.
“When this is finished, we will have a new tourist attraction in northern Bali that is impressive and every bit as good as the Eiffel Tower and Tokyo Tower,” Koster said.
He said the project, which is targeted for full completion in December 2026, is designed to become a new source of locally generated revenue (PAD) for the Bali provincial government.
As well as contributing to regional revenue, the tourism area is expected to spur economic growth in surrounding communities, particularly in Buleleng and Tabanan regencies.
The project is also part of the provincial government’s strategy to distribute and balance development between northern and southern Bali.
On budget efficiency, Governor Koster said capital expenditure allocations in Bali’s 2027 draft regional budget (RAPBD) had fallen sharply.
He attributed the decline to several strategic infrastructure projects nearing completion in 2026, including Turyapada Tower, which was funded in the 2026 budget and is close to completion.
“Turyapada Tower, for example, has required a substantial budget of around Rp670 billion to complete. That funding ends in 2026, and there will be no further allocation for it in 2027,” Koster said.
The Turyapada Tower project has a total budget of Rp670.5 billion, with a further allocation of around Rp27 billion in 2027 for final finishing work.
The development of the area around the Besakih Temple complex, which cost a total of Rp911 billion—around Rp480 billion from the Bali regional budget and Rp430 billion from the state budget—is also due to be completed in 2026.
A total of Rp206 billion was allocated in the 2026 budget specifically for improvements to the sacred temple area at Besakih, and this work is also expected to be fully completed.
“As a result, those hundreds of billions of rupiah will no longer be needed, allowing us to redirect funds to other priorities, particularly roads, where there is still a great deal of work to be done,” Koster said.
