Bengkulu – Bengkulu Governor Helmi Hasan announced that several central government policy programmes have been implemented in Rejang Lebong Regency, ranging from rice field development to preparations for the construction of a Garuda School.

“These programmes demonstrate the central government’s attention towards Rejang Lebong and our task in the region is to ensure everything runs smoothly,” said Governor Helmi Hasan in Bengkulu on Saturday.

According to him, Rejang Lebong Regency is one of the districts trusted with the development of the Garuda School, a premier school programme and educational equalisation initiative being pursued by the central government.

“In Sumatra, only two regions have been given this trust, and one of them is here,” said Helmi Hasan.

According to him, construction of the Garuda School is planned to commence in 2026 at Mojorejo Village, Selupu Rejang District, and is targeted to begin operations in 2027. Various preparations prior to the construction process have already been undertaken since the end of 2025.

In addition to the education sector, Helmi stated that the food security programme is also progressing through the development of 604 hectares of new rice fields in the Tanjung Gelang area, Selupu Rejang.

He stated that infrastructure improvements are also a priority for the Bengkulu Provincial Government through road development and strengthening integrated basic health services in line with national policy.

The commitment to improving educational quality is reinforced through scholarship support. The Regency Government has allocated 1 billion rupiah and the Provincial Government has allocated 5 billion rupiah to assist Bengkulu’s children in obtaining quality education.

“Rejang Lebong is the president’s beloved region. The Garuda School, as a flagship programme, will be established here. This is proof that he trusts and is confident there are many high-achieving children in this region,” said Helmi Hasan.
