Governor rejects perks for councillors

KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: East Nusa Tenggara Governor Piet A. Tallo has rejected a proposal by the provincial legislative council to grant severance pay to 55 councillors amounting to Rp 5.5 billion in funds.

Spokesman of the provincial administration Umbu Saga Anakaka, quoted the governor as saying on Thursday that the sweeteners for the councillors, who will end their five year term this year, were not listed in the provincial budget this year. -- JP
