Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stressed the importance of preserving Lampung’s customs and culture as the cornerstone of human resource development in the province, particularly for the youth. He stated that regional progress heavily depends on a strong community character that values its cultural heritage.

Governor Rahmat made the remarks during the National Education Day (Hardiknas) event themed ‘Cawo Bubalah Lampung’, organised by Mighrul Lappung Bersatu at Balai Keratun on Friday, 22 May 2026. The initiative reflects Mighrul Lappung’s concrete commitment and implements Lampung Governor’s Instruction No. 4 of 2025 on ‘Thursday Traditional’ (Kamis Beradat).

Inspired by the spirit of Boedi Oetomo as a milestone in raising awareness of national identity, knowledge, and culture, Mighrul Lappung is confident in organising the ‘Cawo Bubalah Lampung’ competition. The event is also inspired by R.A. Kartini’s struggles in education.

Mighrul Lappung recognises the crucial role of women beyond domestic affairs, including preserving language, culture, and regional identity. This initiative targets the youth to ensure the continuity of local culture.

The ‘Cawo Bubalah Lampung’ competition saw 33 participants using two dialects: O and A. Participants were divided into two categories: 16 in the General Category and 17 under the DPP Mighrul Lappung Bersatu Category.

Despite modest public interest in the inaugural year, Mighrul Lappung remains committed to making it an annual event. Future editions will feature more innovative and youth-friendly concepts, alongside strengthened collaboration with the Lampung Provincial Government and relevant agencies for promotion.

‘The ’Cawo Bubalah Lampung’ competition may be a small step, but we believe consistent small actions can have a significant impact on preserving Lampung’s language and culture,’ said Dwita Ria, Chairman of the DPP Mighrul Lappung Bersatu.

Dwita also outlined other preservation efforts, including Lampung Language courses. The five-week course, organised in collaboration with Lampung University, aims to encourage community engagement with the local language.

Governor Rahmat highly praised Mighrul Lappung Bersatu’s concrete efforts, expressing deep gratitude for their role as a strategic government partner in advancing Lampung, particularly in cultural sectors.

Governor Rahmat stated the event is a collective effort to motivate Lampung’s youth to actively use the Lampung language.
