Governor: President's presence strengthens central support for tackling forest and land fires
Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran said the presence of President Prabowo Subianto in Palangka Raya is to strengthen and ensure the central government’s support in tackling forest and land fires.
“Of course, he (the President) has already helped a great deal, both in providing excavators, bore wells and other infrastructure that we need in handling this,” said Agustiar in Palangka Raya on Saturday evening.
The Governor explained that President Prabowo gave directives to continue strengthening efforts to prevent and handle forest and land fires through cross-sector synergy, including with the community.
According to Agustiar, central government support is an important part of strengthening forest fire prevention efforts, particularly in dealing with the problem of limited water sources in several areas and the provision of infrastructure.
The central government has, among other things, provided support for the construction of bore wells to help meet water needs in handling forest fires.
Agustiar said that in the initial stage, the construction of around 1,000 bore wells is planned, and this number can be increased according to needs in the field.
He stressed that coordination between the central and regional governments continues to be carried out so that various support for the prevention and handling of forest fires can run smoothly.
Meanwhile, to strengthen handling, Agustiar said the government has also prepared weather modification operations. However, its implementation still faces challenges because conditions in the field are not yet conducive.
