Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung conveyed ‘Jaga Jakarta’ as the message for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebration. He stated that the message is the same as what he always promotes at religious events.

“So, as I have repeatedly conveyed, ‘Jaga Jakarta’ is the main theme that is always emphasised when holding religious events,” said Pramono after Eid prayer in the courtyard of Jakarta City Hall on Saturday (21/3) morning, as reported by Antara.

Pramono hopes that Jakarta’s condition remains stable amid ongoing global upheavals.

“Hopefully, with all of us protecting Jakarta, even though the world is not doing well, but inshallah, Jakarta hopefully will be fine,” he said.

The Eid prayer at City Hall, led by the 13th Vice President of Indonesia K.H. Ma’ruf Amin as the sermon giver, was attended by around 2,000 people. The worshippers included Civil Servants (ASN) as well as residents of Kebon Sirih and surrounding areas.

The Eid prayer began at 06.30 WIB, and Ma’ruf Amin, dressed in all white, started his sermon around 06.50 WIB and finished at 07.11 WIB. Meanwhile, around 2,000 congregants filled the courtyard of Jakarta City Hall.

In addition to Pramono, other DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officials present included Deputy Governor Rano Karno, Regional Secretary Uus Kuswanto, and several former officials.

During his sermon, Ma’ruf stated that Ramadan is a moment to build the economic solidarity of the ummah.

“Respected attendees, Ramadan not only builds spirituality, Ramadan also builds the economic solidarity of the ummah,” said Ma’ruf.

That economic solidarity is said to be evident in the fulfilment of zakat and the distribution of infak during Ramadan.

“In this one month, we see zakat being fulfilled, infak being mobilised, alms being distributed. This shows that Islam not only builds ritual piety, but also social piety,” said the prominent figure of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).
