Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, accompanied by Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) President Director Iwan Takwin and Technical and Development Director Robert Sajaka, conducted a direct inspection of the LRT Phase 1B construction project. Also present were PT LRT Jakarta President Director Aditia Kesuma Negara and Waskita Karya Operations Director II Paulus Budi Kartiko.

Pramono said the presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B would serve as an inspiration and role model for solving Jakarta’s transport problems. He therefore praised the contractor, Jakpro officials and the LRT Jakarta team working on the Rp4.1 trillion project.

“All of this work is carried out entirely by the nation’s own people through PT Waskita and Nindya,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

He expressed hope that the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B could be inaugurated in August and become a new face of transport in the capital.

Waskita Karya Operations Director II Paulus Budi Kartiko said the company is ensuring that Jakarta will soon have a new public transport option that will support urban connectivity.

The infrastructure will link East Jakarta with Central Jakarta, and strengthen inter-modal integration at Manggarai Station.

“We have completed the installation of steel box girders above the active Double-Double Track (DDT) railway at Manggarai, within a limited window time of less than three hours. The girder installation was carried out without disrupting the operations of commuter trains or intercity trains passing along the line,” Paulus explained.

This step demonstrates Waskita’s commitment to implementing the Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) system. Even as work on the project is being accelerated, the company continues to uphold quality standards and worker safety whilst minimising negative environmental impacts.

Waskita has even recorded an achievement of 7.5 million safe working hours without lost time injury during the construction of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B. This achievement is proof of the consistent implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) standards.

“These 7.5 million safe working hours form an important foundation for the execution of a project situated amid Jakarta’s dense traffic and constrained working space. As is known, the main challenges — the urban constraints — in building the Jakarta LRT include Jakarta’s perpetually heavy traffic,” he explained.

Currently, he continued, work on the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B is in the process of casting the slab deck, or structural floor, on the bridge. This will be immediately followed by the installation of precast concrete parapets and udich.

“The slab track work is scheduled to be fully cast by 1 August. This will support preparations for train run testing up to Manggarai Station,” he said.

Paulus noted that train runs have already been conducted several times as far as Kayu Manis Station. Testing of the 3.6-kilometre route has shown that this mode of transport is safe for public use.

“Systematic and structured testing of all components is ongoing, from the track, signalling, electrical and communications systems, through to operational integration. Every metre of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B route is part of Waskita’s responsibility to the public, so we carry out the work with full calculation, precision, and constant coordination with Jakpro as the project owner,” he said.

He continued that Waskita Karya’s involvement in the project is not merely about construction work, but also an opportunity to showcase its capabilities. This highly visible project means the quality of the work directly affects the company’s long-term reputation.

Waskita Karya, he stressed, is committed to continually supporting and overseeing the realisation of integrated transport modes across the capital. The construction of the Jakarta LRT further strengthens the company’s track record as a highly competitive state-owned construction firm, both at home and abroad.

“We are optimistic that the presence of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B will not only add a modern public transport option, but also make it easier for residents to move around and encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport. Ultimately, this will have a positive impact on the environment as it supports the government’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) target,” he said.
